Slumdog Millionaire...

Greed, corruption and the misuse of power are highlighted in the film through a variety of characters. How are those who have money and power glamorized in this film? What happens to the victims?

Well, there are a lot of problems involving money on this film, the first one happens to be the part were Salim and Jamal get into a fight, because Jamal sold the Amitabh Bachchan 's autograph and got money with it, despite the fact that they were both huge fans of the artist, then they come across Maman, who, because of his greed he used street kids to his own use, like begging for money, or to sell the young girls, later, when Salim involves himself with a gangster and get really well paid for his services (it doesn't matter what kind of "work") and lastly, the theme of the movie itself, the fact that the police thinks that Jamal is cheating on the "Who wants to be a Millionaire" show, just because he got a lot of money.

In one pivotal scene, the show’s host tells Jamal his own story about coming from the slums. He then gives Jamal the wrong answer written on the mirror in the rest room. Why did he give Jamal the wrong answer? What did Jamal do?

He gave him the wrong answer because he (the show's host) wanted to be the only one who became rich from the "slums", Jamal didn't trust him so he just speculated the answer by his own, and didn't take the advice of the show's host.

Describe how loss, chance, luck, suffering, and street smarts are also characters behind the scenes. The film explores gain and loss side by side. Triumphs are tempered with loss. Where do you see this evident?

The most evident part of the movie involving this, is the end, because Salim set Latika free but at the cost of his own life, knowing that the boss would kill him by doing that; so he saved a life by giving his own...

  1. I agreed with the last scene, gain and loss, What Jamal wanted more in the world was Latika, but it took a great price, the live of his brother, he din't have the fault about his brother murder, and he didn't even know that a thing like that would happen, but there are always two side in life...
